Election Strategy + Space Planning
I was commissioned by the Southwark Council Electoral Team to deliver the following tasks. A total of 23 count teams must be established, with seating for eight counters per team to ensure efficient operations. Each team will also require access to two tables—one for a supervisor and one for an assistant supervisor—located within a secure area designated for managing the count process.
The venue must additionally accommodate approximately 500 candidates, agents, and guests, providing sufficient space for them to move freely without obstructing staff. This spectator area must remain completely separate from the staff work zones.
To preserve the integrity and security of the count, a secure perimeter must be created around each team, strictly restricting access to candidates, agents, and guests. This will be achieved through the strategic placement of barriers, screens, and other physical dividers.
Finally, comprehensive CAD drawings will be produced to cover the remainder of The Lighthouse building, detailing areas for declarations, staff break rooms, and other essential facilities.
